Coal Tepec 2006 was a great success and we would like to thank our sponsors Telecom, Smirnoff Ice, and Taca as well as all everyone who came to the party from near and far for making it possible! August 4th was a night to remember on the shores of lake Coatepeque! We were very lucky to enjoy a clear sky with no rain and a gentle breeze rustling through to cool off. FerK’s Ableton Live set was well received especially by the Mexican crowd. The driving tunes paved the way for a very uplifting and melodic set that Thrillseekers proposed. In all honesty, it was one of the best sets I have ever heard. Impeccable mixing skills, with unique and emotive track selection, and a very good connection with the crowd made for a memorable performance. He began with his original tune “ By Your Side” which has great vocals from Gina Dootson and moved on through the night with very very unique and seldom heard tracks, all of which were uplifting and melodic. A slightly harder edge showed through towards the end of his performance and the crowd was definitely in tune. Pepa took the baton from Steve at about 3AM and delivered a solid follow up to what was one of the hardest sets to match. Nonetheless, he carried forth with thick basslines and driving beats until the end of the party.

We would like to make mention of the tragic passing of Harlow Gordon Stimson who after attending the party had an accident while on his way back in a boat. We extend our most sincere condolences to his friends, family and loved ones.

We encourage everyone who will take the wheel of a car or a boat to be well informed of the dangers and responsibilities that are involved in order to avoid accidents. We have also decided that there will be no ticket sales or docking services after sunset for Coal Tepec 2007.
